Teacher - Rob Hiemstra

As a career musician I teach, create and perform music in a variety of settings.  I have over 20 years experience as a guitar teacher. I write and record music for my own original band and perform in several cover bands as well.  Sharing my passion for music with my guitar students continues to be a most enjoyable and rewarding way of life. 

Always first and foremost is ease and enjoyment of the teacher student relationship.  Each person has their own musical preferences, expectations, and level of commitment. Everything that we do in lessons, musically and otherwise is based on our mutual understanding. 

Most often (though not always) I tend to give students a larger number of smaller tasks that they can execute with confidence and add new elements, enabling strong and gradual skill development.  Playing music on the guitar can easily become too much multi-tasking.  The layers of learning must be applied in good time and measure.
